Wounded Solider

Wilma was bit by a dog today.

It happened when she was out for a walk with
her dog walker, Kevin.  The other dog (a boxer) slipped
its collar and went right for poor Wilmski.

Kevin took her to the vet right away,
but they couldn't operate on her until
they got our permission.  Well, both of us were
in meetings and missed the call (from both Kevin and the vet).
Jon called them back about an hour later and they explained
what happened.  She went into surgery then and we picked her
about 5:30pm.  She has been in a sleepy haze since then.

Wilma has 6 stitches and a tube to help with the drainage.
She has to go back to the vet next Monday and in early July for follow up appointments.
She can't go out for anymore than a quick potty break and no
walking on the beach for 2-3 weeks.  Jon is already bummed we'll miss our weekend walks.

Earlier today I texted my sister saying I liked last Wednesday better (when I flew to FL and
met her family at Disney) and now I really liked last Wednesday better!!!

  9. You as the owner of the dog that was attacked have an obligation to report the other dog. If you don't and should it happen again or heaven forbid something worse happens, you can be held accountable as well. Is that owner going to pay your vet bills too? Hope she gets well soon!

  10. I am so sorry that this happened to Wilma. :( Hoping that she has a speedy recovery and isn't too shaken.

We have had both of our dogs get unwarranted, out-of-no-where attacks. My little beagle is now very wary of dogs until she is sure they are friendly. And my both of my dogs dislike boxers and shepherds due to getting potshot attacks. I wish that people would train and socialize their dogs.

  13. OMG! This post is so sad! Rocko and I were confronted by a dog a few weeks ago on one of our nightly walks but thankfully there was no blood. Wilma's neck looks awful and I would be one upset pup Mom! Prayers for a speedy recovery! This is just terrible!

  15. EEK!! The drains look intimidating! I know you and Jon are doing a great job nursing her back to health. This kind of event leaves you feeling sad and angry. Hope all of you and especially Wilma are healing quickly. Tess aka Mrs. T

  17. OMG!! Poor thing.Thank God she's OK! My dog had to have emergency surgery and her whole belly was cut open (she ate my bra and her stomach literally exploded). I was so scared but it's surprising just how tough dogs are! I hope she makes a speedy recovery and isn't in too much pain :(
